It’s a go-to comfort dish that’s perfect for game days, potlucks, or a quick and satisfying dinner. Serve it with your favorite toppings for a meal that’s sure to become a family favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb sweet italian sausage
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt, more to taste preference
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 4 cups  tomato juice (more if desired)
  • 28 oz diced tomatos
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • (2) 15 oz Bush’s Best Mixed Chili Beans (mild chili)
  • Optional Toppings: Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, Tortilla Strips

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven, cook ground beef and sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Then transfer the meat to a bowl. Drain excess grease from the Dutch oven, but do not wipe it down (leave it for flavor).
  2. Add olive oil, onion, garlic, and parsley to the Dutch oven and cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are translucent.
  3. Add chili powder, cumin, sugar, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Stir until well combined.
  4. Add cooked meat back to the onion and spice mix. Stir until combined.
  5. Add tomato juice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beans.
  6. Bring to a boil, lower to a simmer, and cook for at least 30 minutes (longer to infuse flavor).
  7. Serve with your favorites, such as shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips.

Notes

If your family does not like chunky tomatoes, replace the diced tomatoes with crushed tomatoes.
