Description
Golden, flaky puff pastry filled with sweet strawberry jam and shaped into festive Christmas trees. These treats are simple to make, fun to create, and perfect for celebrating the holiday season. Finish with a dusting of powdered sugar for a snowy touch or a drizzle of icing for extra indulgence.
Ingredients
- 2 Puff Pastry Sheets (thawed)
- Strawberry Jame (or a jaw of your choice)
- 1 egg
- Powdered Sugar (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional for topping)
- Icing (optional for topping)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
3. Whisk the egg and water together in a small bowl to make your egg wash, then set it aside for later.
4. Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry until it’s about ¼ inch thick. A rolling pin works best here!
5. Grab a 3-4 inch Christmas tree cookie cutter and cut out as many trees as you can – you should get about 8-10 from each sheet.
6. Place half of the trees on your prepared baking sheet. Spoon about 1 tsp of strawberry jam into the center of each tree. Then, carefully place the remaining trees on top to sandwich the jam inside.
7. Use a fork to gently press the edges of each tree, sealing them shut. Be careful not to press down too hard on the jam – you just want to seal the edges.
8. Brush each tree with the egg wash to give them that beautiful golden color when they bake.
9. Take scissors or a sharp knife and make a few small slits on top of each tree. This lets the steam escape while they bake. If you’re feeling festive, sprinkle a little green sugar or sprinkles on top!
10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the trees are golden brown and flaky. Transfer them to a cooling rack to cool slightly.
11. Once cooled, dust them with powdered sugar for that perfect snowy finish. Serve warm and enjoy!
These are such a fun and easy way to bring a little holiday magic to your table. My kids love them – and they disappear fast!
