Cozy Halloween Home Decor Tour: Simple Spooky Touches
Step inside our Hill Country home dressed for Halloween! Cozy, simple spooky Halloween home decor ideas that make family life feel warm, magical, and perfectly seasonal.

Halloween decorating has always leaned cozy around here, warm colors, glowing candles, and just enough pumpkins to make it feel welcoming.
For the last two years, my “floating witch hats” were the star of the show, but this year, I decided to lean a little more spooky.
Honestly? The kids asked for it.
So we mixed in a few cobwebs, spiders, and ghostly touches all sprinkled throughout the house.
It’s still cozy but with just with a little extra Halloween magic in the air.
Front Porch: Welcoming with Whimsy
Our porch got a little spookier this year and I think it’s my favorite version yet. The kids wanted “a few spiders,” so we went all in with webbing, giant crawlers, and two friendly ghosts to greet anyone who walks up. It’s still cozy and welcoming, but with just enough Halloween fun to make the kids light up every time they come home.
Entryway: Where the Magic Begins
The entryway is one of my favorite spots to decorate each season, it’s the first thing guest see when we walk through the door, and I love setting the tone for the rest of our home right here. This year, I kept it cozy and simple with a glowing jack-o’-lantern, amber vase filled with golden fall stems, and a few Halloween throws draped over the blanket ladder. It’s a small space, but those little details make it feel instantly festive.
Coffee Bar: Brewing a Little Halloween Magic
Our coffee bar is one of those small spaces that just makes our home feel cozy, especially this time of year. I love giving it a seasonal refresh with a mix of cozy and playful touches. A few pumpkin mugs, a little ghost figurine, and some warm amber leaves are all it takes to make our mornings feel extra special.
Above the coffee bar, the gallery wall holds snapshots from Halloweens past, just simple phone photos of the kids in their costumes over the years. It’s nothing fancy, but it makes me smile every time I walk by. It’s like a little time capsule of all the costumes, candy-filled nights, and memories that have made these seasons so sweet.
Mantle: Moody, Cozy, and Kid-Assisted
This year, I decided to keep our mantle simple, and let the kids have a hand in the magic. The girls made the Halloween paper garland back in September and a few “spiders,” and I couldn’t bring myself to take them down. Instead of adding my usual cozy orange leaves, I kept their handmade touches.
It’s a perfect blend of cozy and kid-created, a reminder that sometimes the best decor isn’t styled or planned, it’s made with tiny hands. I added my pumpkin art print to tie it all together, and it just feels right for this season of life.
Kitchen: Subtle Spooky Touches
In the kitchen, I kept things simple and functional but still added a few Halloween touches that make me smile while cooking dinner or pouring a late-night cup of tea. A trio of jack-o’-lanterns and a friendly ghost brighten up the counter, and my favorite amber lamp gives off the coziest evening glow against the stone backsplash.
I love how a few little details — a tiny pumpkin, a stack of cutting boards, warm wood tones — can make this space feel festive without taking away from the calm and cozy feeling I love year-round. It’s proof that you don’t need to go overboard to bring a little Halloween charm into your everyday routines.
Dining Room: From Disco to Ghostly Glam
Our dining room is where the fun and creativity usually shines. We had an early October disco birthday party which left us with plenty of hanging décor, so instead of starting from scratch, I decided to give it a spooky twist.
I kept the disco ball and added floating ghosts to the metallic stars, and paper fans to create a “ghostly glam” look that’s festive and fun.
It’s lighthearted and a little magical, exactly how I want our holidays to feel. The kids love seeing the ghosts twirling in the afternoon sun, and honestly, so do I. Even our resident skeleton got a front-row seat nearby (he’s become a bit of a superstar around here).
Backpack Wall Shelves: Real-Life Meets Halloween
If you’ve been following along with my backpack wall DIY, you know this has been a slow-and-steady project since August, and I just wrapped it up last weekend!
With Halloween only lasting a week longer, I didn’t want to go out and buy a ton of new décor, so I shopped my own bins and pulled together a few leftover pieces to make this space feel festive.
It’s simple but cheerful, a mix of old décor, a few fall stems, and my daughter’s new “Heads Off to the Math Whiz” trophy proudly on display.
It’s not exactly how I plan to style it long-term, but it’s the perfect in-between look for now. I can’t wait to decorate this wall more seasonally as the year goes on!

Spider Web Hallway: A Little Spooky Surprise
This hallway might be my favorite unexpected moment from this year’s Halloween decorating. It was a total last-minute decision after I saw how much the kids loved the giant spiders we put on the front porch. A few webs, purple string lights, and some oversized spiders later, and now it’s their favorite spot to walk through (and maybe run through if the lights are dim!).
It’s spooky in the most playful way, and I love that it came together so naturally, proof that sometimes the best spaces are the ones you don’t overthink.
A Perfectly Imperfect Halloween
This year’s Halloween decor felt extra special, simple, a little spooky, and filled with pieces that made my kids light up with excitement. From the handmade garland on the mantle to the spider-filled hallway, every corner holds a bit of their creativity and a lot of our family’s personality.
I pulled together a little photo collage at the end of this post with glimpses from each room, a look at how the whole house came together this season.
It’s a mix of cozy, imperfect, and completely us, proof that creating a home you love doesn’t have to be elaborate to feel magical.
Here’s to twinkling lights, happy kids, and finding the beauty in everyday moments. 🕯️🧡
