As a mom of four young kids, I’m always looking for ways to make the holidays or birthdays feel extra special. One way I do this is by making holiday theme sprinkle cups.

I love sprinkle cups because you only need two ingredients (sprinkles and marshmallow fluff) and most of the time I already have them at home which means no special trips to the store. This also means I can also make these last minute if needed and still get credit for being a fun mom.

Ingredients for Sprinkle Cups

In this blog post I used Valentine’s Day theme sprinkles and marshmallow fluff.

However, you can use any sprinkle you’d like. I usually try to match my sprinkles to the theme or holiday we’re celebrating at the time.

Marshmallow Fluff Alternatives

If you prefer not to use marshmallow fluff for your cups there are alternatives you can use.

  1. Melted Chocolate
  2. Corn Syrup
  3. Icing
  4. Honey

Step-By- Step Tutorial

Step 1:

First, gather all your ingredients (sprinkles & marshmallow fluff or alternative), a bowl, and the cup you’ll be using.

Step 2:

Next, pour your sprinkles into your bowl. You’ll want your bowl bigger than the circumference of your cup. This ensures that you can rotate your cup in your sprinkles.

I used 3 different types of sprinkles for this cup, a small ball-shaped (nonpareils) sprinkles, rectangular (jimmies) sprinkles, and then thin heart shaped (quins) sprinkles.

This is personal preference but I wanted a variety of sprinkles for these cups.

Step 3:

Dip your cup into the marshmallow fluff.

*If you are using an alternative such a honey or corn syrup, you can use a paint brush and paint the rim of your cup.

Step 4:

Now that your cup is coated in marshmallow fluff, you will rotate in the sprinkles until the rim is coated to your liking.

I’ve found that slightly tilting my bowl to the side along with my cup helps get the edges of the cup.

If you find that all of your marshmallow fluff isn’t covered and you’d like it to be, I suggest using the smaller ball-shaped sprinkles. These sprinkles get into the smaller spaces very well.

Step 5:

Add your drink into your cup.

You can add any drink you’d like into the sprinkle rimmed cups. Since I tend to use my cups with my kids, some of our favorites are:

  1. Chocolate milk
  2. Strawberry milk
  3. Sparkling grape juice
  4. Milk

Although you can use any type of drink you’d like. If your hosting a girls night, you can even add your cocktails.

Step 6:

Enjoy!
