February 2024: Life Update

February is coming to a close and honestly, I couldn’t be more excited.

… and there’s a few reasons for this.

  1. I LOVE spring. I think if I had to choose a favorite season, it’d either be spring or fall. They both have really lovely temperatures. Spring brings new blooms and beautiful pops of color whereas fall has those beautiful tones in nature. I can’t decided but regardless, spring is fantastic and it’s right around the corner.
  2. We’re so much closer to moving!!! We’ve had a lot of progress on our PCS (military move) this last week. I’ll be sharing more soon on it but for now, I’m just exploding with excite about all the possibilities.
  3. The temperatures are starting to warm up outside and the sun is shinning more. I’m a person who thrives while being outdoors so this winter has been quite a long one and I’m ready to get back outside again.

As I’ve started prepping for spring here at our current house I can’t help but to daydream about all the possibilities in our new house. I honestly can’t wait to share it with you when the time feels right.

Until then, I’ve been doing research, a lot of reading (I’ve ordered several books off Amazon), Pinterest research from other bloggers, and even some fun instagram research.

I’ve met a few other ladies on instagram lately that are also into home design and decor and it’s so fun to chat with them.

This morning I was chatting with Jordan, from DIYandLemonPie. She had posted a question about patio decor and if you know me I couldn’t help but to chat with her about it for a few. I just love talking home design and patio furniture is so fun to think about and brainstorm.

I ran across her instagram reel of her daughter’s room about a week ago. Of course, it just so happened my oldest daughter was sitting by me and blurted out “mommy, can you put this in my room?!” referring to the wallpaper Jordan used in her daughters room. I decided to message Jordan and she is just the sweetest soul and gave me the name of the wallpaper incase we decide to go with it but also rattled off a few other brands. She has a blog post up, The Sweetest Little’s Girls Room, if you are curious about the wallpaper!

Anyways, now that I got totally off topic, let’s jump back to what I originally was saying, I’ve been knee deep in research for our new house. I’ve been saving a lot of designs and creating new designs in my head and cannot wait to put some of them into action and hopefully document it here along the way.

This week I’m even sharing a few of the books I’ve been reading with my “weekly favorites” list incase this is something you’re interested in too!

Interior Design Books

As we are prepping to move into a new house this summer, I’m getting overly excited about all the home projects. In our last house we did a full renovation on our kitchen, master bathroom, and kid’s bathroom.

This time I’d also really like the kids to be part of designing their room, of course with a little help from us.

I’m not sure what all projects we’ll have but I love doing research and reading a bout why people do things and these three books are such a fun and educational read.

Devotional Coloring Book & Coloring Pencils

We are scheduled for rain all this week. Last year, March, April, and May were pretty rainy as well. In an attempt to transition to spring but still knowing we’re going to be stuck indoors at times I restocked the kids coloring books and bought myself this devotional color book as well.

Friday evening we all sat at the table working on our own coloring books and talking about our day. It was such a nice was to connect and slow down together as a family.

Dyson V12 Slim Detect

I’ve had this vacuum over a year now and still love it just as much as the day I brought it home.

I usually don’t share it because of the price tag but honestly, all bigger items these days are expensive and it’s currently on sale at both Target & Amazon. It has several attachments for it and it’s the first vacuum I’ve had that works on both hardwood floors and carpets. I had a shark when we first moved here and although it stated it worked on hardwood floors it did not.

I can confidently recommend this Dyson for hardwood floors.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream

Spring is quickly approaching which means we’ll all probably be spending more time outdoors. I love this CC+ Cream and the fact that is has SPF 50 to help keep our skin protected.

Learning With Kelsey Educational Boxes

I bought these subscription learning boxes for my younger two as a Christmas gift.

We’ve now been using them three months and I absolutely love them. Kelsey packs her boxes with everything you need to complete the lessons, which when you’re a busy mom really takes the pressure off you while still allowing you to provide educational activities for your children.

I have both the toddler and PreK boxes and the kids look forward to doing their “school” everyday.

Play-Doh

After we finish our learning boxes in the morning, I give the kids a snack and some play-doh for them to enjoy while I work on tidying up the kitchen, dining room, and living room. This routine has really made a tremendous difference in our days.

Play-doh is the one “toy” I can always count on to keep them busy for quite awhile and even my older two (ages 6 & 7) enjoy the play-doh as a way to decompress after school.

Yuzu Tonic Candle by Opalhouse

I love welcoming the new season with seasonally scented candles. I used to buy all my candles from Bath and Body Works, I just love their scents. However, since moving to NYC/NJ it’s harder to get to their store and I know I could easily order online but I’m a person that needs to smell the candle in person.

I’ve since been using Opalhouse candles since they’re easy to grab while I’m already at Target.

They recently released their spring fragrances and the Yuzu Tonic has notes of lemon, Prosecco and yuzu for a nice refreshing spring scent.

Brand Felt Tip Pens

If you’re a pen snob like me, these felt tip pens are incredible. I love how they glide on my paper and are streak free. I’ve been using them a lot lately while getting our paperwork ready to PCS this summer.

My Weekly Favorites Linked

You can find all my weekly favorites tagged right here on my LTK shop.

Favorites from the Kitchen

I’ve been going through our cabinets trying to clean out some of the items in preparation for our move. This past week I found a recipe for Baked Cream Cheese Spaghetti.

I adapted it bit to fit our families taste preferences with herbs but everyone enjoyed it and it was rather simple to cook. It’s something you probably have most of the ingredients already at home for.

Favorite Image of the Week

I haven’t done this before but thought while I’m providing weekly product’s it’d be fun to include my favorite image from the week!

What do you think? A way to share my love of photography right here with you.

This week I’m sharing with you a quiet but messy scene from our dinning room table.

My oldest daughter had decided last minute (the night before) that she wanted to take a craft to school for her class. I figured there was no better way to welcome March 1st than with a beautiful rainbow.

I then spend 2 hours cutting rainbow colored strips of paper and organizing individual bags for all her classmates. It was a labor of love but it was a great reminder to slow down and embrace this phase of life.
