My Weekly Favorites (Week 5/52)

Gosh, it seems like it’s been forever! I apologize for the gap in content but things around here got a little crazy. The kids ended up sick which then I caught… I swear living in this big city always has us sick with all those germs coming in and out of the house.

Anyways, I had been pondering what I wanted to share with you this week and I think I’ve finally narrowed down my favorite items over the last two weeks to share with you.

When I share favorite items, they aren’t always going to be something new I’ve bought that week. Although I do love sharing new items, I also love sharing items that I just keep around the house that makes life in general as a mom easier because who doesn’t like making life easier.. Right?

Instax Mini Printer

I have been using this little printer so much the last two weeks. When I first bought this printer my plan was to print 1 image a week for my photography project this year. Little did I know that I’d be using it to help me house hunt and organize.

I’ve started a “house hunting” notebook. When I see a house I like, I use my instax printer to print a Polaroid, I tape it into my notebook along with any helpful notes about that specific house. It’s helping me keep a running list of properties we’re interested in along with all the info in one spot.

Mini Portable Heater

Our house tends to run cold and my hashimotos autoimmune doesn’t help since I’m sensitive to cold. I keep this mini heater under my desk while I’m working on projects and let it run on my feet. It helps to keep me warm without having to crank up the heat in the rest of the house. It even has an added safety feature, if it’s bumped or falls over it has an automatic switch off which is a peace of mind when you have little in the house.

Heated Blanket

If you can’t tell, it’s been really cold around here… 😂

I’m obsessed with my heated blanket since I bought it last winter. It has timer you can adjust to shut off along with a control for the temperature. I thought I’d be the only one that enjoyed the heated blanket but everyone in the family likes to steal it and use it during the peak of winter.

Sperry Boots

In addition to being cold lately, it’s been really rainy. Last summer I gave in and finally I bought these rain boots but I ended up not wearing them much since we had hit summer and it was finally flip flop weather.

Let’s just say they’ve earned their keep. It’s been so muddy at school pickup, I’m always happy to have a nice pair of slip on rain boots that are also stylist.

Cleaning Gloves

Between dishes and sick kids, cleaning gloves are always a must in this house. I’ve been using these gloves now for over a year and just recently had to replace.

These gloves make cleaning up messes much easier because you don’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty. I used to dread doing dishes, now I just slip on my gloves and I’m good to go.

I used to think using gloves for dishes was silly but let me tell you, it’s been a game changer for me. I no longer dread doing dishes. I used to hate the texture and touching dirty dishes but now it doesn’t bother me since I’m using gloves.

Laundry Rack

Our laundry room is tiny, large enough to step inside to put your laundry in and take it out but not much other than that. I had been using the kids gymnastics bar to hold the hanging laundry as I was folding. However, that solution wasn’t working as planned because the kids would toss my hangers on the floor and break them.

I saw this rack come on sale two weeks ago and knew it was my solution. I love that its adjustable and it folds up which means when I’m not using it I can easily hide it away in the laundry room.

Figment Baking Sheets

My old baking sheets were at the end of their road as they were starting to bow. I started the hunt for a new set and ran across the new Figment Baking Sheets at Target and let me just say, so far they are fantastic. They have a non-stick coat on them and it has made baking things so much easier.

Dutch Oven

If you don’t already have a Dutch Oven in your kitchen this is your reminder to get yourself one. I love having a Dutch oven for one pot meals but this time of year I’m using it mutiple times a week to make fresh baked bread. I think it’s aside from my espresso machine, it’s the most used item in my kitchen right now.

Fleischmann’s Instant Dry Yeast

Speaking of bread, if you want to make bread but don’t want the upkeep of sourdough, I cannot recommend this Fleischmann’s instant dry yeast enough. I started out using the small packets I found at my local grocery store but I’ve been baking so much I decided to upgrade and get the bulk pack to save money for our family.

Favorite from the Kitchen

It’s always so hard to choose my favorite recipe for the week but I think the winner for last week was this Instant Pot Creamy Ranch Chicken. I found this recipe on a whim. I had frozen chicken in the freeze but wasn’t sure what I was going to make. I’m trying to use up items in my pantry that have been sitting. Luckily, I had all the ingredients already in the pantry to make this. It was super quick and a total hit with the kids which is always a winner in my book. The kids liked it so much they asked to take it to school with them for lunch the next day!
