Christmas Entryway Table Decor
The entryway is the first thing guests notice when they step into your home, making it an ideal space to set the tone for the holiday season. For the past two years, we lived in a split-level home without a true entryway—you’d walk straight into a staircase leading up or down. But this year, our hill country home features a cozy little entryway, and I’ve added a console table to make it a focal point.
It’s the perfect spot to bring in some Christmas cheer, and I couldn’t wait to decorate it for the season! I wanted my Christmas entryway decor to feel cozy, inviting, and full of rustic charm.
Let me show you how I transformed this area into a warm holiday greeting that captures the magic of the season!
Choosing a Theme
To be honest, when I started decorating the table, I didn’t have a theme. I haven’t decorated an entryway table before because we haven’t had one. I purchased our console table from World Market in September, and it has worked really well in this space.
I started by looking at what basic pieces I could keep that I already had on it from Halloween & Fall.
My Halloween/Fall entryway decor was lacking this year as I struggled through the first trimester of this pregnancy. With little motivation and spending most of my time feeling sick on the couch, decorating just wasn’t a priority. That’s why I was even more determined to go all out for Christmas, making up for the lack of love our entryway table received during its first holiday season in our new home.
I knew that I could keep the mirror, my lamp, and the vase on the table and just change out the stems in it.
Based on the feel of our house, exposed limestone, and cheery wood beams on the ceiling, I knew a more rustic, farmhouse theme would work well in this space.
Sourcing Decorative Pieces
Before purchasing anything new for the table, I started by pulling out my storage bins from the garage to see what I already had. I kept the entryway table decor minimal at first, using some green stems I’ve had for a few years, along with LED Christmas tree candles and vintage candle holders. I also incorporated a green candle and an advent calendar my kids gave me for my birthday, adding meaningful touches to the setup.
I left the space pretty minimal for a week or two, debating how I wanted to fill it in, as it still felt very empty. I like spaces that make your space feel cozy rather than minimal.
I remembered I had saved vintage bells in another tote, which I added to the table. I also ordered a second set of LED Christmas tree candles and candle holders to balance the sides.
I found a charming framed art piece of a Christmas tree at Target, and its gold antique vibes fit the theme perfectly. I placed it behind the candle my kids gave me, added vintage bells on either side and finished the look with a touch of garland for a cozy, rustic feel.
I have a chair that kind of floats through my house as needed for decor now. It was originally a desk chair but since it’s beautiful I love rotating it through my house. I pulled it out of th bedroom and placed it beside the table where there was an empty space on the wall.
I love layering pieces, both in terms of height and textures.
On one side of the table, there was a small gap that felt a bit empty. Last year, I purchased some beautiful down swept pre-lit alpine balsam trees in various sizes for my front porch and bedroom. To fill the space, I grabbed one of the trees that were slightly taller than my base stems, adding both height and a cozy touch with its twinkling lights.
I originally left my neutral rug from the fall but decided the space needed a festive pop of color.
On the opposite side, I added two small Christmas trees to this side, placing one on the chair for added height and the other on the floor. To bring in extra texture, I draped a cozy white blanket. I also swapped the rug for this festive plaid area rug that is kid- and pet-friendly. It’s perfect for the entryway because if it gets dirty, I can simply toss it in the wash.
Kid-Friendly Touches
To keep the entryway functional and kid-friendly, I added baskets to the bottom shelf of the table. These aren’t just for decoration—they hold socks for the kids, making it easy for them to grab a pair before heading out the door. It’s a simple, practical touch that blends seamlessly with the decor while keeping everyday essentials close at hand.
Final Entryway Christmas Decor Reveal
The final look of my Christmas entryway is everything I hoped it would be—warm, inviting, and full of festive charm. From the twinkling lights of the alpine tree to thoughtful touches like the kids’ advent calendar and cozy textures, every detail brings a sense of holiday magic. The mix of rustic greenery, gold accents, and meaningful pieces creates a space that feels personal and perfectly suited to our home.
