Creating a Morning Sickness Care Package
Creating a morning sickness care package is such a thoughtful way to show a mom-to-be that you’re thinking of her during one of the toughest parts of early pregnancy.
Morning sickness, in my experience, can leave you feeling drained and overwhelmed.
When people ask you what they can do to help, it’s easy to draw a blank, especially if it’s your first pregnancy and you’re still figuring out what might actually make a difference.
And even if it’s not her first, each pregnancy is different, and what works one time may not work the next.
That’s where a thoughtfully curated morning sickness care package comes in.
While every mom has her own unique needs, there are some basic things you can include to provide comfort and show that you care.
12 Gift Ideas for Mom’s with Morning Sickness
1. Ginger Chews
Ginger has been found to help with nausea, making it a popular choice for new-moms-to-be that are dealing with morning sickness.
If you live near a Trader Joe’s, they carry ginger chews that are great for this. If not, I’ve linked below some from Amazon that you can have delivered as soon as the next day.
I’ll admit I was never a fan of ginger before pregnancy, but during the early weeks, I found that it really did make a difference. I’m not sure if it was the strong flavor that distracted me from the nausea or if the natural properties truly did soothe my stomach but it worked!
2. Centrum Morning Sickness Relief Gummies
Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you’re just wandering the aisles at Target because let’s be honest, that store always seems to have what you didn’t know you needed.
I went to Target to grab some prenatal vitamins and ran across the Centrum Morning Sickness Relief Gummies, and let me tell you, they were a game changer.
These gummies are designed to help with nausea during pregnancy, they’re packed with ginger and vitamin B6, which are both known for their nausea-relieving properties.
I loved these because, while the ginger chews worked for me, their strong flavor wasn’t always something I enjoyed. These gummies on the other hand, tasted so much better and still provided the benefits of ginger without that overpowering kick.
These gummies were my go-to solution for tackling nausea this pregnancy.
3. Ginger Ale
There’s just something comforting about a cold glass of ginger ale when you’re feeling queasy. It’s a classic remedy for a reason, and during pregnancy, it became one of my go-to options for settling my stomach.
For me, it wasn‘t just the ginger in the ginger ale that helped, it was also the bubbles. The carbonation combined with the soothing properties of ginger seemed to work wonders for easing nausea.
Sipping on it slowly, especially when my stomach felt unsettled, gave me almost immediate relief.
4. Pregnancy-Safe Teas
Sipping on a warm cup of tea during pregnancy can feel like a little moment of calm during the chaos of morning sickness. But not all teas are safe during pregnancy, so it’s important to sick with blends specifically made for moms-to-be.
Pregnancy-safe teas tend to be made with ingredient like ginger, peppermint, or lemon and can work wonders for soothing an upset stomach.
During my pregnancies, having a box of herbal tea on hand felt like a small luxury. The warmth combined with the natural properties of the ingredients felt like a little self-care moment.
*You can even pair it with a cute mug!
5. Cozy Blanket
There’s nothing quite like wrapping up in a soft, cozy blanket when you’re feeling drained and overwhelmed, which is exactly how the first trimester can leave you.
Whether she’s lying on the couch trying to settle her stomach or grabbing a quick nap between the waves of nausea, a cozy blanket feels like a little self-care.
I like to stick with neutral or calming colors like creams or pastel shades for a relaxing vibe.
It’s a simple but thoughtful gift that she’ll use constantly and truly appreciate.
Trust me, you can never have to many cozy blankets.
6. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated during pregnancy is key, and a cute water bottle make it easier to sip on during the day.
I’m the worst at trying to stay hydrated but if I have a cute water bottle, I’m more likely to carry it around with me and stay hydrated for the day.
Some things to think about when choosing a water bottle, look for one that is insulated to keep the drink cool.
I’d recommend choosing a larger water bottle because when youre feeling sick, the last thing you want to do is constantly get up to refill it.
Look for one that has a straw or spout lid to make sippin it easier.
This is a small but practical gift that makes taking hydrated just a little easier on the expecting mom.
7. Bubble Gum
Now bubble gum may not be the first thing that comes to mind for morning sickness relief, but it can actually be a helpful and simple remedy.
Chewing mint or ginger flavored varieties, can help distract your mind, reduce queasiness, and keep you mouth feeling fresh.
Chewing also helps increase saliva production which can help neutralize stomach acids and provide relief.
I discovered the wonders of chewing gum during this last pregnancy and always kept some in my purse. I found that when nausea hit unexpectedly, especially while I was driving, it was a quick and easy way to feel better.
The Orbit White Spearmint was my favorite during this last pregnancy but in general any mint or ginger flavored gum will help.
8. Crackers and Pretzels
When that morning sickness hits, sometimes the only thing you can stomach is something plain and easy to digest, this is where simple crackers and pretzels come in.
It’s so helpful to have a small stash ready and these are relatively cheap and easy items to include in a small gift basket.
Crackers help absorb stomach acid, my favorite were always the light Saltine crackers. It always helped me to nibble on in these before getting out of bed in the morning.
Pretzels were light and the saltiness really helped soothe my stomach as well.
9. Lounge Wear
When morning sickness hits, you find yourself spending more time than you’d like curled up on the couch or in bed, just trying to make it through the day.
One the rough days, even the smallest comforts can make a difference, and for me, having a soft, cozy pair of pajamas or loungewear just made me “feel” better.
I didn’t have the capacity to try and get an outfit together, nor the desire, so a matching loungewear set is always welcomed.
Tight waistbands and scratchy fabrics are awful when you’re sick, you want to look for soft, breathable, and loose-fitting.
10. Meal Delivery Gift Cards
Last but certainly not least are meal delivery gift cards.
When you’re battling morning sickness, just the thought of cooking food, let alone smelling the food, can feel impossible.
I remember my first trimester this pregnancy, when I’d be laying on the couch and I wanted to be able to get up and cook dinner for everyone (because food is typically my love language) but I couldn’t even open the fridge without gagging.
This is where meal delivery gift cards come in!
Whether you gift DoorDash or Uber Eats gift cards for takeout, having easy meal options without the stress of cooking is a true life saver.
If you’re local to the new mom-to-be you can even drop off a meal that she doesn’t have to cook.
It’s honestly one of the most practice gifts you can give to her in the first trimester.
It’s a thoughtful way to say “I know this is hard, let me take one thing off your plate.”
11. Laundry Help
On the same page as making her a home cooked meal is laundry.
I would’ve paid someone to come and take my laundry during the first trimester, no joke.
Laundry doesn’t just stop because morning sickness kicks in. The clothes pile up, kids still need clean outfits, and somehow you’re supposed to keep up with it all.
If you’re local to the new mom-to-be help with laundry is something that we could all use but never want to ask for.
You can offer to come over while she rest and do laundry at her house or even offer to take it back to your place and do it for her there.
If you’re busy too, maybe look into a local laundry service It’s such an incredibly thoughtful (and practical!) way to support her.
Trust me, she’ll be grateful for anything that helps keep the house running while she focuses on getting through those tough weeks.
12. House Cleaning Help
The house….
Similarly to laundry, I would’ve paid someone to clean my house too (had money allowed).
The simplest tasks like loading the dishwasher and sweeping floors felt impossible.
I remember looking around at the dishes piling up and the dirty floors and just feeling completely defeated.
The reality is, when morning sickness takes over, cleaning even the simplest tasks, is the last thing on your mind.
If you have it in your budget to gift even a one time deep clean with professional cleaning services, this kind of help is priceless for the new mom-to-be.
Having someone else handle the vacuuming, scrubbing, and general tidying up can make such a different in helping her feel more relaxed.
When you’re in survival mode, knowing your home is clean without having to life a finger is truly a blessing.

The first trimester can be a whirlwind of excitement, exhaustion, and endless waves of nausea.
When you’re in it, even the simplest tasks can feel overwhelming, and something’s, you don’t even know what would help, you just know you need something.

Whether it’s a small gesture like the ginger chews or a larger one like a house cleaning services, each one shows the mom-to-be that she’s supported and not alone in this journey.
If you have a pregnant friend or loved one, any of these gifts will go such a long way in making those tough early weeks just a little bit easier.
