Holiday Treats
One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is baking all the festive treats with (or for) the kids. There’s something so special about the warmth of the oven, the smell of chocolate (or spices) filling the house, and the joy on the kids faces as the try to sneak a taste of my frosting or sprinkles.
While I love diving into and trying new recipes that take time and effort, sometimes I just need something quick and easy but still festive and fun.
Life with kids (especially during the holidays!) is busy, and having simple recipes on hand can make all the difference. That’s where treat like these peppermint brownie bites come in: they’re festive, fun, and ready in no time!
Why Peppermint Brown Bites are Perfect for the Holidays
I can’t explain why but there’s something about the holiday season that makes peppermint and chocolate the ultimate flavor combination. Maybe it’s the cozy nostalgia of a warm peppermint mocha or the irresistible crunch of peppermint bark, two of my all-time favorite holiday treats.
My love for these holiday treats is what inspired this recipe. Early this week, I found myself in the kitchen with a box of brownie mix, but I knew the kids would expect something more festive – because let’s face it, during the holidays, everything feels a little bit more “extra” in general or at least around our house.
As I brainstormed ways to elevate the brownies – marshmallows, a chocolate drizzle, sprinkles – I glanced over at my hot cocoa bar and saw my jar of crushed peppermint. That’s when it hit me, the perfect way to combine my favorite holiday flavors into a fun and festive dessert, peppermint brownie bites.
